Scan update

I had my scans today at 8 a.m. (too early).  I looked back and realized I haven't posted about what these scans are like.  The day before the scans I can't do anything strenuous and nothing to eat after midnight.  For my PET scan I go in a room with a recliner and they inject some radio active solution into my vein and then I get to recline wrapped in warm blankets for 45 minutes.  I'm not supposed to move very much.  In fact they won't let me bring a book in with me unless it is on headphones.  The first time I had this scan...I sat in that room with a broken clock and sang in my head all the hymns I could think of.  Pretty pathetic and it seemed to last FOREVER.  So after the 45 minutes then they take me to the machine that scans and I have to lay still for 30 minutes.  This scan picks up any cancer, infections, or areas that are healing.  Then I get to have a CAT scan of my abdomen and pelvis which is a piece of cake since it lasts a total of 10 minutes at the most and I just have to hold my breath a couple times.

So anyway....onto the good news.  I got a call this afternoon from the nurse at the cancer center and she told me that they received my scans and everything is normal.  YEAH!!!!  I meet with my doctor on Tuesday and I'm sure I will have to point out the spots on my liver.  They are pretty small and he never remembers quite where they are on the CAT scan.  Or maybe they will be gone.

My doctor won't say I am in remission...we tried last time we met with him to get him to say it...he'll only say I'm sort of in remission.  The best news is that he will most likely let me take a month break from any chemo since we are headed to Hawaii next week.  I am so excited.  Life is great and I'm trying to make the most out of each day I am given.
